Bocca Musica™
is an international, award winning, musical-comedy troupe that was
formed in the fall of 1996 by Coco the Fearless Leader. The original
name of the group was Bocca Divertentissimo, which translates to
"Mouth Full of Fun." While the implications are endless, the name
was difficult to remember, so it was changed to Bocca Musica, which
translates to "Music of the Mouth." The group started out strictly
as a madrigal quintet but slowly evolved (or maybe devolved) into a
slapstick madrigal group. Finally, after several members of the
group changed, Bocca morphed into its current incarnation, a bawdy,
crazy, musical-comedy act that occasionally sings beautiful love
songs and madrigals to people who make requests. Our style mixes
traditional drinking songs, bawdy songs, spoofs of musical
theatre and modern songs with jokes, toasts and our own brand of
slapstick to provide a show which is entertaining to both the eyes
and the ears.
Bocca Musica™ has
predominately performed at the
Michigan Renaissance Festival
since 1997 but has also performed at other venues
including The Silver
Leaf Renaissance Faire,
The Charlevoix Renaissance Festival and The Alpena Renaissance
Festival. In addition, Bocca Musica has performed locally and
internationally and is available for weddings, parties, bar gigs and
corporate functions in full Renaissance or Victorian costume.
